The Bee Gees top Smooth FM’s alternative ‘warmest 500’

IT’S the other countdown on January 26 — Smooth FM’s Top 500 is the alternative to the alternative Hottest 100.
The Bee Gees’ How Deep is Your Love has been voted the No 1 song for 2017 — which could be seen as the ‘Warmest 500’.
While it isn’t voted by listeners like the Hottest 100, the station says it is the 500 most loved songs played on the station.

Barry Gibb told the station “For one of our tunes to make it to No 1 is everything. I think that people who listen to our songs are the best people in the world and this is how they show it, thank you.”
The 1977 ballad beat out ABBA’s Dancing Queen, also released in 1977, for the title.
Previous winners include I Will Always Love You by Whitney Houston and Sweet Caroline by Neil Diamond — which both feature again in this year’s Top 10.
The countdown has run for five days on Smooth FM, which has become one of Australia’s most popular radio stations.
